A Good Place in Midtown for a Carnivore – though a little touristy
After you walk past the glassed in meat locker displaying the meat aging, you step back in time. Started in 1927 as a Speakeasy, the décor doesn't appear to have changed a lot since then. Restaurant has dark paneling; red checked table clothes. It's very crowded, loud and pricey; waiters are impatient and the portions are oversized. The menu is basic steak house fare with sides al a carte.

Less expensive alternative to staying in Midtown, convenient with the Ferry
Dependable, predictable and less expensive than staying in NYC. It's a short ferry ride to Midtown terminal then bus/taxi to where ever. Rates usually include breakfast. Some rooms have great night views of the west side of the City. Several restaurant chain choices within walking distanceare close to the property. Overall great value in NYC (well ..actually Weehawken, NJ).

Down home country in the big city
I really like this place. Good food, huge portions - bigger than my waistband maybe wants - and easy to get to. I nearly always get the pork chop or the honey-dipped fried chicken, but I recently tried (& liked) the fish tacos, although they were a tad salty. They even have my favorite beer, Magic Hat #9.

High-end and also middle-end
This is one of my favorite restaurants. This place lets me have a nice'n fancy meal, or just keep things simple. Granted, keeping it simple will still probably be $40, but this is NYC. The weekday breakfast is the best - not too crowded, and very tasty. One should really make a reservation for weekend brunch, although the wait's not too long.
Balthazar has also "gotten over itself" a little; it used to have a lot of stars going - I've seen Oliver Stone, Jerry Seinfeld, and Liza Manelli there. But now, it's just busy and fun.
Importantly, the service has always been very very good - the people at the door was the only place where there was a little bit of an attitude.- 0 people found this review helpful

mais meat
Starve yourself for a week, then immerse yourself in brazilian-themed gluttony! A bustling bacchanalian feast of meat, meat, and more meat (accompanied by live samba/bossanova music). A NYC classic.

Great Mojitos..Fun with a Latin Beat
Havanna Central was a nice surprise. The atmosphere is fun, fun, fun with a Latin beat. The Mojitos are refreshing and STRONG. The Food is authentic Cuban and delicious. Try the Pernil Asado – Succulent Roast Pork with some sweet potato fries. Yum! The band was much better than the piped in music and people were dancing outside the restaurant on the sidewalk as we left. For NYC - it's very reasonably priced. Havanna Central three locations in NYC..This one is conveniently located in Midtown and though it's not far from all of the tourists in Times Square - it's not a touristy place.

Sample amazing chocolates!
La maison du chocolat is located right at the side of the NBC studios at Rockefeller Center. Chocolat boxes cost around $50-100 but you should definatly drop by and "look interested". I am sure they will offer you some samples and let me tell you... those are worth it!!!

Good nice Hotel just south from Central Park. Very small rooms: for one person acceptable for two persons just to small. Good rates for New York.
